For overnight stays in the High Mountain Region, variability and affordability are the main themes. Leadville’s Columbine Inn is a travelers’ favorite, with spectacular views of Mt. Massive and Turquoise Lake. If you want history, try Leadville’s Delaware Inn, which hasn’t changed much since it was built in the 1880’s. Sugar Loaf Inn RV park is on the edge of the Turquoise Lake nature park or you can tent-camp inside the Forest Service park.

Farther south, if you like rustic, try the Twin Lakes Inn and Saloon
or the Twin Lakes Roadhouse Lodge and Cabins. For those who
really like to commune with nature, there is no better experience
than the 10th Mountain Hut system of cabins, where the only
access is by nature trails used by hikers in the summer and
skiers in the winter.
